Grilled Beef Heart

Beef heart is a nutrient-rich muscle that's as delicious as it is nutritious. Found in the cow's chest cavity, the heart is lean and flavorful, with a deep beefy flavor. To unlock its full potential, I recommend marinating the heart overnight to tenderize the meat, then grilling it to perfection for a hearty and satisfying meal.

Grilled beef heart pairs well with a variety of side dishes, such as grilled vegetables, rice, or a simple salad. Enjoy this flavorful and protein-rich dish at your next barbecue or outdoor gathering!

INGREDIENTS

1/2 beef heart

Method

Rinse the beef heart under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. Trim any excess fat or connective tissue from the surface. Combine the marinade ingredients in a small bowl. Place the beef heart in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, making sure to coat the heat evenly. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Remove the beef heart from the marinade and let any excess marinade drip off. Place the beef heart on the grill and cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. For medium-rare, the internal temperature should reach at least 145°F (63°C). Once cooked, remove the beef heart from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. Slice the beef heart thinly against the grain and serve warm, garnished with lemon wedges. Enjoy!
